商业上是指混合戊醇与乙酸所形成的酯类混合物。分子式CH3COOC5H11。乙酸戊酯为一种无色、具有香蕉香味的易流动液体,有8种可能的同分异构体,其中6种在商业上已大量生产。市售乙酸戊酯的成分与原料戊醇的成分有关。戊醇的主要来源是杂醇油，其中异戊醇约占戊醇含量的85％，其次是2－甲基－1－丁醇和正戊醇。由杂醇油制得的乙酸戊酯的沸程为125～150°C，主要是乙酸异戊酯（结构式如）。乙酸异戊酯是重要的溶剂，大部分用作喷漆的溶剂，也可作制革的清洗剂，还用于香料、医药和食品工业。
