【性状】
本品为淡黄绿色至黄棕色的澄清液体；有强烈刺激性香气，味清凉而辛 辣。放冷至－10℃以下，即析出结晶。 本品能与甲醇、乙醇、丙酮、氯仿或乙醚任意混合，在水中微溶。 相对密度 应为0.935～0.950（附录Ⅶ A）。 折光率 应为1.500～1.520（附录Ⅶ F）。
【鉴别】
取本品0.1ml,加乙醇0.5ml,摇匀，加1％ 香草醛硫酸溶液2 滴，振摇， 显紫红色至暗紫红色。
【功能与主治】
止咳，祛痰。用于急、慢性支气管炎。
【用法与用量】
口服，一次0.05～0.1g，一日2～3次。
【贮藏】
遮光，密封，置阴凉处。
