程芷，原名吴宗锡，江苏苏州人。中共党员。1945年毕业于上海圣约翰大学经济系。1949年起历任上海市军管会文艺处组长、文化局副科长、人民评弹团团长、文化局副局长，上海市文联第三、四届委员及常务副主席、党组书记。中国文联第四届委员，中国曲艺家协会第三、四届副主席，上海市曲艺家协会第一届副主席及第二、三、四届主席，江、浙、沪评弹领导小组组长，上海市第九届人民代表。1995年曾获中国艺术研究院曲艺理论优秀科研成果荣誉奖。1945年开始发表作品。1983年加入中国作家协会。
