【性状】
本品为淡黄色或棕黄色的软膏状物；有黏性而滑腻；臭微弱而特异。 本品在氯仿或乙醚中易溶，在热乙醇中溶解，在乙醇中极微溶解，在水中不溶；但 能与约2倍量的水均匀混合。 熔点 本品的熔点（附录Ⅵ C第二法）为36～42℃。 酸值 本品的酸值（附录Ⅶ H）不大于1.5 。 皂化值 本品的皂化值（附录Ⅶ H）为92～106(测定时加热回流时间为2 小时) 。 碘值 本品的碘值（附录Ⅶ H）为18～35（测定时在暗处放置时间为4 小时）。
【鉴别】
取本品0.5g，加氯仿5ml 溶解后，加醋酐1ml 与硫酸2 滴，即显深绿色。
【检查】
酸碱度 取本品10g,加水50ml，置水浴上加热熔融，不断搅拌，放冷， 除去分出的脂肪，遗留的水溶液应澄清。取此溶液10ml，加酚酞指示液1 滴，不得显红 色；另取此溶液10ml，加甲基红指示液1 滴，不得显红色。 氯化物 取本品0.2g ，置锥形瓶中，加乙醇27ml，加热回流数分钟，放冷，加硝 酸0.5ml ，滤过，滤液中加硝酸银的乙醇溶液(1→50)5滴，如发生浑浊，与对照液[ 取 乙醇20ml，加标准氯化钠溶液7.0ml 、硝酸0.5ml 与硝酸银的乙醇溶液(1→ 50)5 滴制 成] 比较，不得更浓(0.035％) 。 易氧化物 取上述酸碱度项下遗留的水溶液10ml，加高锰酸钾滴定液(0.02mol/L)1 滴，5 分钟内红色不得完全消失。 乙醇中不溶物 取本品0.5g，加无水乙醇40ml，煮沸，溶液应澄清或至多显极微的 浑浊。 干燥失重 取本品，时加搅拌，在105℃干燥至恒重，减失重量不得过0.5％（附 录Ⅷ L）。 炽灼残渣 不得过0.15％（附录Ⅷ N）。
