在工作时间内不需要添加润滑剂的滑动轴承。自润滑轴承有 4种类型。①用石墨、聚四氟乙烯、尼龙等具有良好自润滑性的材料制造的轴承；②用固体润滑剂润滑的金属轴承；③用含有固体润滑剂的复合材料制造的轴承；④在多孔质金属或多孔质塑料中加入润滑油或润滑脂的轴承。常用的固体润滑剂有石墨、二硫化钼、聚四氟乙烯、酞青染料等。为了防止润滑剂流失,后3种轴承都要作成密封组件。自润滑轴承主要用在无法添加或不便于添加润滑剂的工作环境，如高空、 地下、 高温、放射性、有毒的场所，也常用于不允许润滑剂污染的机械和设备，如食品机械、纺织机械、电器开关等。
