凌桥地区种植茭白已有一百多年历史。“一点红”茭白原产地无锡，1953年由凌桥引进。因茭白上有一点红色而得名。“一点红”茭白洁白鲜嫩，出肉率高，品质上乘，产品除供应市区菜场外，还被梅林食品厂用来生产罐头——油闷茭白，远销到香港等地。
