With the introduction of the markedness theory,it is helpful to find out the more basic,more natural and more common language points and realize the transition from unmarkedness to markedness.

This thesis begins with a cognitive-pragmatic analysis of what is pun with its markedness,followed by a discussion of miscellaneous pun-translation difficulties and the solution,Pun-Translation Mode,supported by a multitude of examples which mean to serve the points of pun translatability as well as difficulty.

Later,it is applied to every level and component of language in applied linguistics and can be classified into norm markedness,classification markedness and semantic markedness.
