| 铬铁矿 chromite 成分为铬铁的氧化物矿物(Fe Cr2O4)。含Cr2O3.91％。工业铬的主要来源，也可用于制高温耐火材料如铬砖。成分中的铁常被镁置换，当以镁为主时，则称镁铬铁矿。具正常的尖晶石型结构，等轴晶系，晶体呈细小的八面体；通常呈粒状和致密块状集合体。黑色，半金属光泽，莫氏硬度5.5，比重3.9～4.8，具弱磁性。产于超基性岩或基性岩中。大型铬矿矿床产于南非德兰斯瓦、津巴布维的圭洛、俄罗斯乌拉尔东部斯维尔德洛夫斯克以及古巴等地。中国西藏、宁夏、甘肃和陕西也有产出。
