四川省第 2大淡水湖。古称邛池。位于西昌市东南5公里,海拔约1510米。由构造断裂形成，作西北-东南向延伸，平面呈葫芦状。湖面29平方公里，平均水深14米,最深处34米,蓄水3.2亿立方米。盛产鱼虾30多种,是四川著名天然渔场，年最高捕鱼量达750多吨,大虾20多吨。湖区还有天鹅、白鹤、鸳鸯等10多种动物。邛海水温适宜，四时可以游泳，是四川理想的水上运动场，四川省航海俱乐部即设于此。湖滨广种稻麦和蔬菜。湖西有拔地而起，翠峰挺秀的泸山，海拔达2817米。有汉柏、唐柏和明桂等稀有古树以及光福寺、蒙段寺、三教庵、祖师殿等庙观。泸山和邛海遥相呼应，是四川具有特色的自然风景区之一。
