89式35mm单兵燃烧弹是一种不占编制、一次性使用的单兵榴弹发射器，虽作为轻型纵火武器，但却有良好的发烟效果。该武器80年代末开始研制，90年代初设计定型。
单兵燃烧弹是由发射筒、击发机、发射系统、射弹和表尺板5部分组成。铝质发射筒用以承受燃气压力、容纳射弹和赋予射弹飞行方向，并连接击发机。击发机用以击发和保险。发射系统用以推动射弹，提供发射能量，包括点火药室、主药室和火帽。射弹用以纵火、发烟，包括盛装燃烧剂的弹体、盛装扩爆药和延期药的中心管。表尺板用以瞄准。
89式35mm单兵燃烧弹弹径35mm，系统质量650g，全长450mm，其主要战术任务是：在20～100m距离内实施纵火和火攻；烧杀或迷盲敌人；引燃易燃的军事装备或设施。
