    又名1-甲基-4-乙酰基苯、甲基对甲苯基酮。无色至淡黄色液体或无色针状结晶。分子量134.16。密度1.001g/cm3。熔点28℃。拂点226℃。折射率1.533。不溶于水。微溶于大多数有机溶剂。以1:10溶于50%乙醇;以1:3溶于60%乙醇。具有类似苯乙酮的花果香气及类似草莓的甜味。
    生产方法:主要采用乙酰化法。以甲苯和醋酸酐为原料、在无水三氯化铝催化剂存在下,进行乙酰化反应,然后经水解、中和、水洗、分离、蒸馏而得。也可从巴西檀香木、玫瑰木等等天然原料中经精馏提取而得。
    用途:酮类合成香料。主要用作金合欢、紫丁香等香精的调合香料。
