This thesis studied the effect of cooling rate and the stirring intensity on the equivalent diameter and the aggregation of the primary Si particles during the producing of the semi-solid slurry by electromagnetic stir, so offered foundation for producing largely the hypereutectic Al-Si alloy semi-solid slurry.

Strong magnetic field method was adopted to solve the problems,such as the loss of efficiency after re-melt,the short effective time after Na modification,and the primary Si distributed unevenly after P modification.

Modification of the primary silicon in hypereutectic Al-Si alloy by boron;

The results showed that under the conditions without high magnetic field,primary silicon in solidified structure concentrated at the edge of the sample and eutectic structure appeared in the center;while the high magnetic field was imposed,primary silicon distributed evenly .
