海泡石
sepiolite
    层状结构硅酸盐矿物  。成分为Mg4Si6O15(OH)2·6H2O。正交(斜方)晶系。通常成白、浅灰、浅黄等色的粘土状块体,有时成皮壳状或结核状。在电子显微镜下,其形态呈细丝状体,集合体排列成似片状。光泽暗淡,贝壳状断口,莫氏硬度2~2.5,比重2.2。遇水时能强烈吸水而变柔软,当再干燥时就硬化。海泡石可由沉积作用形成,或由蛇纹岩蚀变而成。世界最主要产地为土耳其的埃斯基谢希尔。中国产地有江西乐平、湖南浏阳等。
