性质:即5-甲基-2-异丙基苯酚(5-methyl-2-iso-propylpheno1),又称麝香草酚,3-羟基对异丙基甲苯,3-甲基-6-异丙基酚。无色晶体。熔点51.5℃。沸点232.5℃。相对密度0.979。微溶于水,易溶于乙醇、乙醚和氯仿,有特殊香气,是多种香精油的组分之一。对眼睛、皮肤和呼吸道有刺激性。用三氯化铁氧化得偶联产物。由间甲基苯酚与异丙醇用硫酸催化反应制得,也可由5-甲基2-异丙基苯胺经重氮化后水解或5-甲基2-异丙基苯磺酸经碱熔制备。有防腐和杀菌作用。是制造药物、香料和指示剂的原料。
