新四军在淮南定远反击国民党顽固派军队大规模进攻的战斗。1940年3月，国民党第21集团军第138师及第10、第12纵队共5000余人，围攻淮南津浦路西的新四军江北指挥部和第4支队。国民党江苏省政府主席韩德勤也调集兵力围攻津浦铁路东的第5支队，在淮南地区掀起了大规模的反共高潮。在中共中央中原局和新四军江北指挥部的统一指挥下，第4、第5支队和苏皖支队于3月4日、6日、10日进行了三次反顽自卫战斗，打退了国民党军的进攻，取得了高塘铺、松树刘等战斗的胜利，攻克了定远县城，歼国民党军第10、第12纵队2000余人，其中俘1000余人。新四军伤亡136人。
