化学式AuCl3·HCl·4H2O，分子量411.85。金黄色或橙黄色针状晶体。易潮解。在干燥空气中失去一个水分子。溶于水也溶于乙醇和乙醚。见光出现黑色斑点。有腐蚀性。从乙醇溶液中可结晶出无水氯金酸(三氯化金)。用作分析试剂、铷、铯的微量分析；制备红色玻璃。还用于镀金、照像材料。将金溶于王水，蒸发除去盐酸而制得。
