Based on the thennodynamic equilibrium data of synthesis reaction of isoamylene and methanol to form tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME) , the equilibrium constants of the reaction system are calculated with different mixing activity models and compared with those worked out by theoretical calculation.

When the mass fraction of isoamylene,1-amylene,2-amylene and sulphuric acid was respectively below 5% , about 5% ,about 28% and 80% ,and the molar ratio of sulphuric acid and the total olefin was between 1.

The reaction results indicated that, besides the aim product isobutene, propylene and pentenes formed by dimerization-cracking reaction or oligomerization-cracking reaction were the main by-products, and the hydrocarbons higher than C 6 were not detected.
