植物形态：多年生草本，直立或倾斜、或下部伏地而蔓延状，通常有刚毛，根较粗肥，圆锥形。叶对生，卵圆形或椭圆状披针形，长3.5~7厘米，宽1~2厘米，基部圆形或近心脏形，先端钝尖或渐尖，全缘，基脉3出在叶背突出，表面微凹，网状脉在叶背明显，有刚毛，表面粗糙或有刚毛，网脉不明显，无柄或具短柄，托叶膜质，阔卵形，先端短尖。花小，黄绿色，单性同株，丛生叶腋，花被裂片3~5枚，雄蕊5枚，子房上位，1室。瘦果三角状卵形。 生态分布：产我国长江流域以南各省；多生于山地林边草丛中，沟谷溪边灌丛边。 药用部分：根、茎、叶入药，四季均可采收。 用途：性味淡、平，无毒。能升清降浊，避秽止呕，行气化湿，醒脾和胃；又为清凉解热药，有健脾镇呕作用。用于消化不良及胃寒而起的吐泻、腹痛、胸闷及乳痈，小儿惊风等。用量：全草3~5钱。
