南源乡位于西北部,东邻乐安县,南依常阴镇,西连乐安县界,北与南城县界接壤。距县城84公里,总面积172.8平方公里,全乡总户数2619户,人口9358人,其中农业人口境内主要河流有黄水贯穿全境,长达16公里。境内属亚热带季风气候,四季分明,雨量充沛。年均气温17.1℃、1月均温5.2℃,7月份均温28.8℃。年降水量1582.4毫米,年无霜期264天左右。水力水电资源丰富,有水利工程266座,建成旱涝保收田面积14600亩,有水电站5座,装机容量630千瓦,年发电量260万度。全乡100%的农户用上了电。南源乡交通便利通讯迅捷。
