风暴潮 storm surge 由台风、温带气旋、冷锋的强风作用和气压骤变等天气系统引起的海面异常强烈的升降现象。又称风暴增水或气象海啸。它是周期从几小时至几天不等的重力长波,振幅可达数米,介于地震海啸和低频潮汐之间,伴有狂风巨浪,可引起水位暴涨、堤岸决口、农田淹没、船毁房摧,是沿海地区的严重自然灾害。有温带风暴潮和热带风暴潮两种:①温带风暴潮。由温带气旋引起,多发生于春秋季节,特点是潮位变化稳定和持续。北海和波罗的海沿岸、美国和日本沿岸都经常出现这种风暴潮。②热带风暴潮。由台风引起,屡见于夏秋季节。特点是伴有急剧的水位变化。凡受台风影响的沿海地区,包括北太平洋西部、南海、东海、北大西洋西部、墨西哥湾、孟加拉湾、阿拉伯海、南印度洋西部、南太平洋西部的沿岸岛屿,都是这类风暴潮的多发区。 在大陆架上,即使没有风暴的直接作用,也可以有由外海传播而来的风暴潮。 |
