    性质  无色无臭的透明结晶体或白色小颗粒。密度1.725g/cm3(25℃)。熔点169.6℃。有潮解性。极易溶于水,溶解度随温度升高而迅速增加,溶于水时大量吸热。溶于丙酮、氨,微溶于乙醇,不溶于醚。慢慢加热到210℃时开始分解,生成水和一氧化二氮,继续加热即爆炸。具有氧化性。与有机物、可燃物、酸类及金属屑等接触能引起燃烧或爆炸。
    应用  农业上用作棉花、亚麻、大麻、烟草和蔬菜等农作物的肥料,效果特别好;还用于制造含钾、磷、钙等的复合肥料。炸药工业用作制造高氯酸盐炸药、铵油炸药和浆状炸药等的原料。医药工业用于制造一氧化二氮--笑气(麻醉剂),维生素B。玻璃工业用于制造无碱玻璃。此外,还可用了制造冷冻剂、微菌培养剂、烟火、乐虫剂、催化剂等。
