留青竹刻 竹刻之一种。留青，是留用竹子表面的一层青筠，作为雕刻图纹；然后铲去图纹以外的竹青，露出下面的竹肌作地。故名“留青竹刻”。因留青，是留其青皮一层，所以又名“皮雕”。竹材选用深山冬竹，经防霉防蛀工艺处理，竹品底面光润。竹筠洁白如玉，竹肌有丝纹。竹筠色浅，年久呈微黄；竹肌年愈久，色愈深，色如琥珀。留青竹刻，宜充分利用这种质地色泽变化差异，采取青筠全留、多留、少留或不留，分出层次，形成色彩从深到浅，自然退晕效果。明晦浓淡，因景而施。留青竹刻之法，至明末张希黄时已大备。李葆恂《旧学庵笔记》载张希黄竹刻山水臂搁事，“凡云气、夕阳、炊烟，皆就竹皮之色为之。妙造自然，不类刻画”。道出希黄运用竹筠之妙。留青竹刻产品有臂搁、书镇、笔筒、台屏和案头小品等。
