两只用来照明某一被摄对象的灯光，就其产生的总效应来说，它们之间的强度差，就称为光比。摄影的光比指照明被摄对象的主光与副光之间的亮度值或照度值之比。光比的大小，决定着画面明暗反差，形成不同的影调和色调构成。光比还指对象相邻部分亮度之比。
光比大，反差则大，光比小，反差则小。光比的巧用，可有效的表达被摄体的“刚”与“柔”的特性。
