化学式AgBr。淡黄色粉末；熔点432°C，密度6.473克/厘米3(25°C)；在高于 1300°C 时分解，见光易分解，开始变灰，最后变黑；不溶于水，微溶于氨水，溶于硫代硫酸钠、氰化钾或浓的溴化钾溶液中，分别形成稳定的配离子：Ag(S2O3)幬、Ag(CN)娛、AgBr娛。将溴化钾加入到热的硝酸银溶液中，可得溴化银沉淀，所有操作应在暗室中进行，产品应储存在棕色玻璃瓶中。溴化银主要用于照相术。涂有一层含溴化银胶体粒子的照相底片受光的作用时，溴化银感光分解成银核：
