【来源】
为蜜蜂科昆虫中华蜜蜂等所分泌的黄褐色或黑褐色的粘性物质。动物形态详"蜂蜜"条。
【采集】
在暖和季节每隔十天左右开箱检查蜂群时刮取，刮取后紧捏成球形，包上一层蜡纸。放入塑料纸袋内，置凉爽处收藏。
【化学成分】
含树脂约50～60%，蜂蜡30%，芳香挥发油10%和一些花粉等夹杂物。
【功用主治】
①《中华皮肤科杂志》："治鸡眼、肼胝、蹠疣和寻常疣。" ②《东北动物药》："治恶性肿瘤和创伤有效。" ③江西《中草药学》："保护肉芽组织，利于伤口愈合，对皲裂亦有疗效。"
【选方】
治鸡眼：蜂胶适量。先将患部用热水浸泡，并以刀片削去表层病变组织，然后将一小块比病变范围稍大的小饼状蜂胶紧贴患处，用胶布或洁净布条数层固定。约六、七天后鸡眼从它的穴窝中自行脱落，此后还需再贴上药六、七天，待患处皮肤长好为止。(《中华皮肤科杂志》(4)：240～241，1959)
