唐代诗人。字承祐。山阳(今江苏淮安)人。生卒年不详。会昌四年 (844)进士。大中年间官终渭南尉。世称赵渭南。卒年40余岁。
赵嘏诗与许浑同调,属于律切工稳、清圆流畅的一路,然较许浑稍沉着。《全唐诗》称其"为诗赡美,多兴味"。"残星几点雁横塞,长笛一声人倚楼"(《长安秋望》),得杜牧激赏,呼为"赵倚楼"。实际上,他的诗风也多少接近杜牧,在词采风华之中兼饶俊逸疏宕之气,尤工起调,象"流年堪惜又堪惊,砧杵风来满郡城"(《齐安早秋》)、"三年踏尽化衣尘,只见长安不见春"(《寄归》)等,皆发语挺拔,力振全篇。五言弱于七言。题献应酬之作过多,亦是一病。
有《编年诗》2卷、《渭南集》3卷,《全唐诗》收录时合编为2卷。《唐诗百名家全集》辑入时,题作《渭南诗集》 2卷。又有近人段朝端校补本,收入冒广生辑《楚州丛书》。事迹见《唐诗纪事》、《唐才子传》。
