东湖 位于中国湖北省武汉市武昌东北郊。因位于武昌老城之东得名。是杨汊湖、郭郑湖、喻家湖等湖的总称。湖水北经青山港与长江相通 。湖略呈三角形 ,湖畔曲折,港汊交错,有大小岬湾120余处,湖岸线长115千米。水面32.7平方千米。四周景色秀丽,1950年辟为东湖风景名胜区。四周景色各具特色:南岸山峦叠起,校舍林立(武汉大学等高等学府建在附近);东岸丛林青翠,是疗养胜地;北岸则为井然有序的渔舍;风景区集中于西岸,有水云乡、听涛轩、行吟阁、濒湖画廊、屈原纪念馆、长天楼、鲁迅广场等,并有东湖主要园林——梨园,东湖景区主楼之一的长天楼,橘园、竹园、莲池等景区。亭台楼阁,金碧相映,和湖中心的湖光阁、西北的九女墩、湖东南的磨山,彼此相望,互为映衬。东湖上还有水上运动基地。
