原名于士奇，山东莒县人。中共党员。1943年毕业于国立西南联合大学外国文学系。1944年参加革命工作，1946年起长期在中央机关做外交工作，历任科长、处长、研究员，中国驻中东、西亚、非洲各国大使馆外交部巡视专员，中国驻阿尔及利亚大使馆一等秘书兼新闻专员，北京现代国际关系研究所研究员。中国作家协会天津分会副秘书长，天津社会学学会副理事长。1934年开始发表作品。1988年加入中国作家协会。
