A new type amphoteric softener for clothing-triethanolamine oleate bi-ester betaine is synthesized under certain conditions, and the resultant product is emulsified and its applied performance is tested.

In this article the types and working mechanism of amphiprotic softener were summarized,and the effects of adsorption,particle size of the emulsion and the structure of compound on texture were commented.

The authors have treated the woven polyester fabric with their own prepared hydrophilic softener and the result shows that its handle, hydrophilicity, and anti-static and soil releasing properties are improved while retaining the original whiteness.
