压力对超导性质的影响称压力效应,主要体现在对超导体的临界温度Tc和临界磁场的影响上。压力效应有二种:一是在加压下对超导体性质的影响,其二对一些非超导物质在加压下可呈现超导体性质。前者例如对超导元素Nb在常压下的Tc=9.2K,而在4.5×109Pa压强下则Tc=9.7K;后者例如在常压下的非超导元素Ge,但在1.15×1010Pa高压下成为超导物质,其Tc=5.35K,后者压力效应又称加压下的超导电性。实验结果显示,一般地对非过渡元素超导体加压后Tc可降低,对一些过渡族元素及其合金超导体加压后Tc可增高。
