叶蜡石 pyrophyllite 层状结构硅酸盐矿物。成分为Al2[(Si4O10)](OH)2。中国按其产地又称为寿山石(福建)、青田石、昌化石(浙江)。晶体属三斜和单斜晶系,单晶极少见。常呈鳞片状、叶片状或致密块状集合体。纯者白色、灰色或淡黄色。解理面上呈珍珠光泽,致密块状呈油脂或蜡状光泽。莫氏硬度1~2 ;底面解理完全 ;比重2.65~2.90 ;具滑腻感 。熔点1700℃左右。多数是中酸性喷出岩或由酸性结晶片岩等富铝岩石受热液蚀变后形成。寿山石、青田石是白垩纪流纹岩和流纹凝灰岩经热液变质而形成。质地细腻、色泽丽润的叶蜡石是中国传统的工艺雕刻原料。工业上可做为优质耐火材料,填充料,农药的吸收剂等。
