【来源】
为豆科植物黄花苜蓿的全草。
【植物形态】
黄花苜蓿 多年生草本，高30～70厘米。茎直立或匍匐，稍有毛，多分枝。三出复叶，小叶长圆状倒卵形，或倒披针形，长1～2厘米，宽2～4毫米，先端钝圆，基部楔形，边缘上部有齿；托叶大，尖而长。总状花序，腋生，有花10～20朵；花梗长于叶柄；花冠蝶形，黄色，比萼长2倍。荚果扁，矩形，弯曲成半月形，光滑，长1.5～2厘米，成熟时褐色。种子5～10粒。花期8月中旬。 生于草原或丘陵间低地以及沟边。分布新疆、陕西、甘肃、内蒙古、山西、河北等地。
【采集】
夏、秋采收，晒干。
【化学成分】
含中性和酸性皂甙。花主含叶黄素酯。
【性味】
甘微苦，平。
【功用主治】
宽中下气，健脾补虚，利尿。治胸腹胀满，消化不良，浮肿。
【用法与用量】
内服：煎汤，3～5钱；研末1～1.5钱。
【选方】
治消化不良，胸腹胀满：黄花苜蓿一钱。研末冲服，一日二次。(性味以下出《内蒙古中草药》)
