学会的最高权力机构是全体代表会议。全会每 4年召开一次。学会的理事会由6人组成，任期4年，负责处理全体会议休会期间的事务，协调和监督各技术委员会的活动。学会下设 7个技术委员会：①原始数据的获取；②处理和分析数据的仪器；③数据的数学分析；④摄影测量和遥感的制图应用和数据库应用；⑤摄影测量和遥感的其他应用；⑥摄影测量和遥感的经济、职业和教育问题；⑦摄影数据和遥感数据的判读。技术委员会负责学会的各项科学研究活动，并向大会报告工作情况。学会编辑出版《国际摄影测量和遥感文献汇编》，并出版学术性季刊《摄影测量》。1980年，中国以"中国测绘学会"的名义正式加入国际摄影测量和遥感学会。
