Micron-size poly(methyl methacrylate-co-styrene) microspheres were synthesized by dispersion copolymerization in a methanol-water media using polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP) as a dispersant and 2,2′-azobisizobutyronitrile (AIBN) as an initiator.
以聚乙烯吡咯烷酮(PVP)为分散剂,以偶氮二异丁腈(AIBN)为引发剂,在甲醇/水混合溶剂中,采用分散聚合法制备出微米级的甲基丙烯酸甲酯苯乙烯共聚物微球,研究了分散介质组成、单体组成、引发剂浓度、分散剂浓度、反应温度等反应条件对聚合产物粒径及粒径分布的影响。

合成聚合物颗粒大小介于典型的悬浮聚合（50微米～1毫米）与乳液聚合（0.05～0.2微米）之间的一种聚合方法,颗粒大小大致为0.5～10微米。分散聚合的溶液稳定性好，一般情况下不产生沉淀，其性质有点像胶乳。最典型的分散聚合的例子是乙酸乙烯酯在较多聚乙烯醇(5％)存在下用水溶性引发剂进行的聚合。如果用0.2％聚乙烯醇和过氧化苯甲酰作引发剂，则是典型的悬浮聚合。由于分散聚合浆液的颗粒极细，可沉积成连续薄膜，能用作胶粘剂、水性漆和涂料。
