性状描述:无色有刺激气味的液体。熔于-33.4℃,沸点162.3℃(分解),80.0℃(6.65kPa),61℃(2.26kPa),51℃(1.33kPa),相对密度1.1460(20/4℃),折光率1.4131,闪点70℃。能与丙酮;乙醚和氯仿混溶,在水中溶解为37%,其水溶解迅速全部水解。

生产方法:由乙酸裂解制得乙烯酮,再与甲醛按摩尔比3:1配合,以氯为稀释剂,在BF3催化剂作用下气相缩合或液丁缩合而成。

用途:用作药物、树脂和纤维改性剂的中间体,也用作杀菌消毒剂,用于血浆和疫苗的杀菌。衍生物β-巯基丙酸是PVC稳定剂和医药的原料。
