化学式K2CO3。 白色结晶;熔点 891℃, 密度2.428克/厘米3(19℃);热稳定性很高, 升温至1000℃也不分解。碳酸钾易潮解,易溶于水,25℃时每 100克水能溶113.3克。在室温下K2CO3·2H2O比较稳定。工业上多采用在氢氧化钾溶液中通入二氧化碳的方法来制备碳酸钾。碳酸钾主要用于玻璃工业。
