生物学特性研究表明,在PDA平板上,香蕉黑星病菌在5℃-30℃均能生长,适宜生长温度为20-30℃,最适生长温度是28℃,PDA、PSA和V8培养基上生长较好,病原菌在pH3-pH10均能生长,pH4-pH8生长较好,pH7生长最佳,马铃薯琼脂培养基中添加不同的糖对病原菌生长有不同的影响,其中以蔗糖、果糖、葡萄糖最好,淀粉和乳糖最差,PDA培养基中添加不同的氮源对病原菌生长有抑制作用,在氯化铵上不能生长,光照和振荡培养对病原菌的生长有明显促进作用,病原菌的致死温度为55℃10min。

    形态特征:葫芦科香瓜属一年生攀援草本植物。茎被短刚毛。卷须不分叉。叶柄长8-20厘米 叶片宽心状卵形,长宽约7-20厘米,边缘有小锯齿。雌雄同株,雄花常数朵簇生,黄色 雌花单生或簇生。果实常有刺尖瘤状凸起,矩圆状或圆柱状,种子白色,矩圆形。 
   生境分布:原产于印度。我国各地均有栽培。 
   用途:果实是常见蔬菜。茎、藤可入药,能消炎、祛痰,治痢疾和高血压等。
