      位于储集层之上,能够封隔储集层,使其中的油气免于逸散的封闭层。盖层的好坏直接影响油气在储集层中的聚集和保存。常见的盖层有泥岩、页岩、蒸发岩(石膏、盐岩)和致密灰岩,其中以蒸发岩为最好。盖层之所以能封盖油层,是因为盖层具有较高的排替压力。排替压力是指某一岩层中润湿相流体(水)被非润湿相流体(油)开始排替时所需的最低压力。盖层多被水润湿,油气要通过其运移,必须首先排替其中的水;如果驱使石油运移的动力未达到进入盖层所需的排替压力值,则石油就被封闭于盖层之下,即所谓的毛细管封闭。此外,在储集层之上,某些地区存在有欠压实泥岩。欠压实泥岩,系指泥岩在压实过程中,由于流体排出受阻或来不及排出,因而流体承受了部分上覆地区的有效压应力,使岩层中的流体具有高于静水压力的异常压力,岩石则承受较低的有效压应力形成欠压实。它可以形成压力封闭使下伏储集层中的油气不能向上逸散。但无论是毛细管封闭还是压力封闭,都很难阻挡天然气的分子扩散。因此,天然气藏的盖层要求高,最好的是蒸发岩类。
