   主链上含重复酯基结构的聚合物。由多元酸和多元醇经缩聚而成。二元酸与二元醇缩聚得到线性聚酯,最重要的是聚对苯二甲酸乙二酯(见涤纶)。官能度大于 2 的酸和醇缩合得到体型聚酯,如醇酸树脂。不饱和二元酸和二元醇缩聚得到不饱和聚酯。此外尚存下列工业上较重要的线性聚酯。①聚对苯二甲酸二丁酯。由对苯二甲酸与1 ,4 -丁二醇在钛催化下经酯交换再缩聚而成。熔融温度220~225℃ ,玻璃化温度36~49℃。可作工程塑料,也可熔纺成纤维。如果两端含羟基,可用来制备多嵌段聚醚聚酯热塑弹性体。②聚对苯二甲酸-1 ,4-环己烷二亚甲基酯 。由对苯二甲酸二甲酯与1 ,4-二羟基甲基环己烷经酯交换后再缩聚而得。结晶度为50%时,熔点为290~295℃ ,非晶态聚合物的玻璃化温度为85℃。纺得的纤维膨松,可制作地毯或用作填充料。
