      化学式为HOCN。为有挥发性和腐蚀性的液体;有强烈的乙酸气味;熔点-81℃,沸点23.5℃;溶于乙醚和苯。其水溶液是较强的弱酸。氰酸与异氰酸、雷酸互为同分异构体。氰酸在稀水溶液中迅速水解,伴随着生成尿素:

   HOCN+NH3─→CO(NH2)2氰酸在浓溶液中聚合成三聚氰酸,又称氰尿酸。氰酸可由三聚氰酸热分解或氰酸钠与盐酸反应来制备:
