    中国中部海岸的重要海港之一。位于江苏省北部,黄海海州湾南端。是新欧亚大陆桥东端的起点港。连云港建于1933年,由荷兰治港公司承包。因在连岛和云台山之间建港,故取名连云港。原老港建有3000吨级泊位8个,东防波堤1050米,西防波堤1600米。1950年设立港务管理局, 1973年开始新建港口和改造老码头工程。经20年建设,已拥有泊位22个,其中万吨级泊位15个,码头岸线总长3656米。1990年港口吞吐量为1137万吨。连云港有两个港区:老港区和庙岭港区。在老港区新建了第三突堤,有2.5万吨级和万吨级杂货泊位各2个,设计年吞吐能力140万吨;新建的庙岭港区建有1.6万吨级和3.5万吨级煤炭泊位各1个 ,设计年吞吐能力900万吨,煤堆场14万平方米,可堆存14个品种。建有2.5万吨级木材泊位2个,设计年吞吐能力100万吨。此外,港口还新建了铁路编组站、港口船舶交通管理中心、2.5万吨级船舶双向航道等工程。
