(totalorganiccarbon)水中有机物所含碳的总量。常以符号TOC表示。计量单位为mg／L。有机碳在水中经微生物作用，发生分解，消耗溶解氧，使水中氧的含量迅速下降。有机碳对水的污染作用远比无机碳影响大，对溶解氧的变化常起着决定作用。测定水中TOC含量可以综台地判断废水中有机物污染程度。
