米粒组织

   太阳光球上明亮的颗粒状结构,是光球亮度分布不均匀性的表征。光球实际上是沸腾的对流层顶层,巨大的对流气体元向上流动到太阳表面,并把多余的热量辐射掉,然后分散为较冷的气流从气体元的周围边界向下流回对流层。因为上升的气体元中心较热,下降的边缘较冷( 中心与边缘的温差至少达100度),故在光球表面形成了中间亮四周暗的米粒状组织。它的形成深度约400千米。米粒呈椭圆形 ,其角径约1~3角秒,相当于日面上700~2000千米 。将米粒隔开的暗区宽度约 290 千米。米粒越大越亮,其亮度比周围背景约亮10%~20%,相应的温度差约300K。整个光球表面的米粒数约4×106个。米粒的平均寿命约8分钟,个别米粒可达16分钟。
