The Ministry of Education has banned commercial advertisements(广告 guǎnggào) from middle and primary school textbooks, it said last Thursday.

Links(链接 liànjiē) or QR codes(二维码 èrwéimǎ) for supplementary learning materials are also not allowed(允许 yǔnxǔ), it said.

The ministry encourages(鼓励 gǔlì) the publishers to provide free(免费的 miǎnfèi de) digital audio products matched(配套 pèitào) with textbooks(课本 kèběn) on the Internet.
