The South Korean president will make state visits to Norway, Sweden and Finland; Energy ministers of the G20 nations will gather in Japan; the Japanese PM will meet with Iran's supreme leader and president; Poland's president will meet Trump at the White House.

These are the international events under the spotlight for the week starting June 10.

South Korean president to visit Norway, Sweden and Finland

South Korean President Moon Jae-in will make state visits to Norway, Sweden and Finland during his Northern European tour lasting from June 9 to 16.

In Finland from June 9 to 11, President Moon will hold a summit with Finnish President Sauli Niinisto on boosting startup exchanges and enhancing bilateral cooperation for sustainable economic growth.

In Norway from June 11 to 13 and Sweden from June 13 to 15, President Moon will attend official welcoming ceremonies and state luncheons and dinner hosted by Norwegian King Harald V and Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf separately.

Presidential spokeswoman Ko Min-jung said the president's upcoming trip is "part of his efforts to realize innovative growth, peace and an inclusive nation, the administration's three priorities."

Energy ministers of G20 nations gather in Japan

As one of the G20 Ministerial Meetings under the Japanese Presidency in 2019, the Ministry of the Environment will co-organize the "G20 Ministerial Meeting on Energy Transitions and Global Environment for Sustainable Growth" in the Japanese city of Karuizawa on June 15 and 16.

The G20 energy ministers, who are committed to tackle global energy and climate challenges together, will meet to discuss energy transitions toward sustainable growth.

Japanese PM to meet with Iranian supreme leader, president

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is expected to meet with Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during his visit to the country from June 12 to 14 for the first meeting between the two, the Mainichi Daily reported, citing an unnamed government source.

The visit aims to help encourage dialogue with the US and ease tensions, according to the Mainichi. This visit will be the first by an incumbent Japanese prime minister since 1978.

During the trip, Abe plans to meet with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on June 12 and Khamenei on June 13.

Poland's president to meet Trump at White House

US President Donald Trump will meet with Polish President Andrzej Duda in Washington on June 12 to talk about security and defense among other issues, the White House said.

It said the leaders would also reaffirm their countries' historical and cultural ties ahead of the 80th anniversary of the start of World War II later this year, and celebrate the 20th anniversary of Poland's membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
