Truck carrying 1,000 Xiaomi phones hit by thieves in India

A truck carrying nearly 1,000 Xiaomi smartphones worth Rs 1 crore (about 140,000 U.S. dollars) hit by thieves in India on Wednesday, according to a report by Times of India.

The truck was on its way to Kolkata from Sri City when thieves stopped the vehicle, attacked the driver, and took the phones, which they transferred into an unidentified truck before fleeing the scene.

The police are continuing their investigation into the incident.

Xiaomi is one of the most popular smartphone brands in India. Its market share grew to 28.9 percent last year, up from 20.9 percent in 2017.
