The first 86-inch touch screen produced by Touchworks Optoelectronics (TWS) came off the assembly line in Guiyang on Oct 29, marking the start of operations for the world's first and largest smart production line for 86-inch touch screens.

Established in Guiyang Hi-tech Zone in June 2012, TWS is a major player in the researching, developing and selling of capacitive touch screens, active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) screens, display modules integrating the touch function, active capacitive stylus and other products.

The smart production line at TWS is equipped with automatic guided vehicles (AGV), a just-in-time (JIT) manufacturing system, a manufacturing data collection (MDC) system, a big data management visual platform of production and other intelligent equipment.

Relying on the efficient intelligent management system, the capacity of TWS can be increased by 10,000 86-inch touch screens per month.

As the capacity of upstream industries increases, the demand and application of jumbo size commercial screens will reach a compound growth of 40 percent per year.

The launch of TWS's smart production line will contribute to increasing the production and decreasing the price of touch screens, and promote the use of jumbo sized capacitive touch screens.

TWS's products are extensively used by well-known companies such as HP, 3M, Haier, LG and TCL in the areas of smart watches, smart phones, laptops and finance. Currently 30 percent of its products are sold abroad to countries like South Korea, Germany, the United States, Japan, India and France.

TWS is expected to reach a production value of 230 million yuan ($33.02 million). In the next three years, the company will invest 300 million yuan in introducing upstream and downstream industry companies related to screen production to Guiyang Hi-tech Zone.

In 2020, TWS will realize a sales revenue of one billion yuan, provide employment opportunities to 1,500 people and achieve eight million yuan in taxes.

According to a representative from TWS, the company is striving to form an integrated industry chain for touch screens, aiming to use five billion yuan during the next five years to contribute to the development of the big data industry in Guizhou.
