Extraordinary jack-o'-lanterns from around the world
2018-10-26

As Halloween is around the corner, making a lantern out of a pumpkin, popularly known as a jack-o'-lantern, is a tradition during the festival. Some places go the extra mile in carving large, complex ones for the holiday. Let's take a look at some of the best ones.

American carver Ray Villafane and his team transformed a pumpkin into a monster's head in this Oct 16, 2014 photo. Every year they meticulously shape elaborate Halloween characters using sculpting tools and a small paring knife. From scary spiders and squirming squids to an adorable red panda, each carving takes between two and 12 hours to perfect. [Photo/VCG]
