BEIJING, May 30 (Xinhuanet) -- Chief of the World Health Organization Margaret Chan said on Monday that she is very concerned over the epidemic of the novel Coronavirus in the Middle East and the Europe.
The WHO has renamed the virus as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus. The organization said that several Middle East countries have been affected by this significant public health threat, including Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Cases with direct or indirect connection to the Middle East have also been reported by , , Britain and Tunisia.
WHO has reported that the number of infection cases has now reached 49, including 27 deaths. The organization still doesn’t know the source of the virus and its ways of transmission. It will dispatch an expert team to Saudi Arabia and Tunisia to examine the infections cases in early June.
