The China Cultural Center in Wellington, New Zealand, showcased the culture of Chinese cuisine to a group of Mandarin learners from the local government on Feb 24.

The attendees made dumplings together to welcome the Lantern Festival, which falls on Feb 26 this year, after watching the paper-cut animation Chinese New Year.

Karla Rivers, a Chinese learner from the Wellington government, said the activity was interesting and that she brought the dumplings back home to enjoy with family.

The center director Guo Zongguang said the event was designed to help the learners know Chinese culture through direct experience.
